Erica F Zajac, LCSW
Certified MBT Practitioner & Supervisor
I work with clients on a variety of issues including depression, anxiety, attachment issues, and personality disorders. I specialize in the treatment of trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD, and BPD, all of which have overlapping symptoms. Additionally, I have an advanced understanding of, and competency in, issues related to sex-positivity, including but not limited to sex work, LGBTQIA identity, poly/ENM, body image, kink/BDSM, and dismantling patriarchy/purity culture.
I am a certified MBT (Mentalization Based Treatment) Practitioner, and I use this framework in sessions. (What is MBT?) In addition to MBT, I am also formally trained in CBT, TF-CBT, and psychodynamic therapy. I use different techniques and theories to individualize treatment to meet the unique needs of each client.
I am a creative and eclectic person, and my therapeutic style is approachable and friendly. However, I do challenge and push my clients on a regular basis… how much is dependent on where the client is currently with treatment.
Part of my unique approach to therapy is that I offer between session contact via text and phone. Know that you will always be supported.
What is MBT?
I graduated from the UNC School of Social Work in 2006 and worked in community mental health providing therapy to indigent clients. My work consisted of treating clients with suicidal ideation, borderline personality disorder, and trauma, with most of my clients being of low socioeconomic status and/or abject poverty. I started practicing as a sex+ therapist, working with a wide range of issues, in 2018 in the private practice setting. However, because of my unique ability to treat personality disorders and hard-to-treat mental health disorders, I also see people outside of this community.
